safety city

Wednesday, September 4, 2013

we finally made it to safety city last month. unfortunately we made it on the very last day they were open this season so we will have to wait until next summer to make it back.  i had heard lots of great things about this place for so long and it definitely lived up to it's reputation.  safety city is a park created to teach street safety to children who walk, ride bikes, roller skate, etc. on the streets and sidewalks around town. the streets are complete with bike lanes and working stoplights. the park was designed to mimic knoxville and includes some of knoxville's biggest landmarks such as the sunsphere in world's fair park, the main hospital downtown, the historic tennessee theater, and the big alcoa factory.  an amazing little place!

 The Sunsphere.

 The main bank in town.

Preston slept through the entire adventure but he was practicing street safety too!

 Even mini houses!

we are definitely looking forward to going back again next year!
